"NEW HOSPITAL for wounded New Zealanders, opened by Lord Plunket and by the High Commissioner for New Zealand ". (154). Party walks along garden terrace accompanied by nurses (175). Famous alike for their prowess with the bayonet and feats of strength and agility" (214). HAS of beach with the Zouaves (Algerian soldiers) lying on the beach forming the number `1' and the word `ZOUAVES' (224). Ground view a group of men who form a circle and toss a man about in the circle. Some men in the background give shoulder carries. The whole scene descends into a general mêlée of fighting, leaping and shoulder carries (243). "Watch for the explosion of a bomb dropped by a Taube" (251). Men continue playing, forming a line and jumping on backs. They all look up and take cover in bunkers at the edge of the sand dune. A small explosion on the sand dune above them. The men emerge from their bunkers (287). The men, lying on the beach again, form a crescent and the letter `Z' (303ft). Note: Originally dated as c. 1919 perhaps owing the reference to the anniversary of the war. However, King George and Queen Mary attended a service at St. Pauls to commemorate the first anniversary of the war on the 4th August 1915. This was the only time they did so. Note: The Zouaves bombing raid is probably staged. The explosion is very small and an object can be seen rolling down the dune as the men take cover. They also emerge a little too quickly from their bunkers if they are really under attack.
